Creepy state

This is about the United States but we can all recognize what Zenpundit is talking about in this posting. Do read it as it is short and very punchy. And no, I still do not think either country is as bad as Russia but that is not necessarily a consolation.

  1. What is being experienced is the final death throws of a society that is collectively known as the West. It is the classic scenario of the rise and fall of a civilisation. At it's end the society becomes the victim of it's success and it degenerates becomes fragmented, decadent and it's morals standards and values fall. This gives rise to corruption, greed and incompetence. The state then has no other choice than to introduce more draconian laws and regulations in attempt to contain the effects, which of course do not work in halting the decline. The end result is total collapse. Sometimes those societies after long period in a dark age re-emerge but more often than not they disappear altogether.

  2. Roughly what Antisthenes said (but with better punctuation).

I'll just add that we British are even more f****d than the Americans, because we don't have even the remnants of a strong, well-written Constitution to use against our tyrants.

(NB - This comment will probably appear three times. I have no idea why, and I apologise in advance)

  5. @Andrew Duffin, my apologies I was rubbish at English whilst in school and it has not improved one iota with age.

  6. A couple of days ago, with reference to bumping off the unlamented Anwar al-Awlaki, the FBI director seemed to testify that Obama could kill American citizens within the US boundaries on his own motion. Needless to say, the lamestream media have ignored this. Imagine if George Bush had claimed such a right.
